Schedules for the meetings of the Governing Council and General Council of the ECB and related press conferences in 2000

  1. The Governing Council has agreed that in the year 2000 its meetings shall continue to be held, as a rule, on alternate Thursdays. As in 1999, exceptions to this rule are envisaged in order to accommodate special holiday situations, namely with regard to Epiphany, Corpus Christi, the summer holiday and the New Year. It has also been agreed that, beginning in 2000, two scheduled meetings each year will be held in a venue outside Germany, but within the euro area. The schedule for the meetings of the Governing Council of the ECB in 2000 is as follows:

    17 February 2000
    2 March 2000
    16 March 2000
    30 March 2000
    13 April 2000
    27 April 2000
    11 May 2000
    25 May 2000

  2. In addition, the General Council has agreed that the current practice concerning General Council meetings is to be maintained, i.e. quarterly meetings shall be held on the same day as Governing Council meetings. The schedule for meetings of the General Council in 2000 is thus:

    14 December 2000
  3. Finally, the current regime for holding press conferences will continue, i.e. they will take place after the first Governing Council meeting each month. The schedule for press conferences in 2000 is therefore as follows:
