ECB decision of the volume of coin issuance in 2002

Pursuant to the Treaty establishing the European Community (Article 106 (2)), the European Central Bank (ECB) has the exclusive right to approve the volume of coins to be issued by the euro area countries. To this end, the Governing Council of the ECB has adopted a Decision which approves the following volumes of euro coins to be issued in the euro area in 2002:

Germany 7,513.0
Greece 726.6
Spain 1,757.5
France 2,521.7
Ireland 426.2
Italy 3,700.6
Luxembourg 100.0
Netherlands 1,280.0
Austria 964.5
Portugal 470.0
Finland 360.0

The Decision will be published in the Official Journal of the European Communities in the next few days.
